APRIL 2025: Expanded, Revised, and Edited!
What if the most popular end-times theory in modern Evangelical Christianity isn’t biblical at all?
Picture it: a car barrels down the street with no driver — only a pile of clothes left behind — before it smashes into a mother clutching her infant. In the park nearby, children cry out in terror as their grandmother suddenly vanishes, seized upward into the sky, leaving them abandoned and unprotected on the grass. In a hospital operating room, a surgeon disappears mid-procedure, leaving a patient lying open on the table as chaos erupts. Across the globe, the same horror repeats: planes fall from the sky into buildings, highways become graveyards, and panic ignites as entire families, coworkers, and neighbors disappear in an instant.
For years, millions of Evangelicals have been captivated by the idea of a secret rapture—a moment when believers will mysteriously vanish before a period of global tribulation. Books like Tim LaHaye’s Left Behind turned this view into mainstream theology among evangelicals. But what if the Church has been misled?
As someone who spent over twenty years immersed in the Fundamentalist-Evangelical-Dispensationalist world—and who even earned a doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary, the very institution that helped popularize the pre-tribulation rapture—I once accepted this doctrine firmly. Ironically, it was during one of my doctorate classes in DTS about the rapture that everything changed.
In this short yet thought-provoking book, I critically examine the top verses and arguments used to support the pre-trib rapture. Using historical context, biblical language, and common sense, I offer an alternative interpretation that’s both faithful to Scripture and anchored in hope—not fear. Whether you’re a curious believer, a skeptical reader, or someone who simply wants to know what the Bible actually says about the rapture, this book will challenge, clarify, and equip you.

Easy read, quick and to the point Tackling the most used pre-trib rapture arguments Exploring original languages and context
The pre-tribulation position advocates that a mystical rapture will occur before the beginning of a seven-year tribulation period, while the second coming will occur at the end of it. Pre-tribulationists often describe the rapture as Jesus coming for the church and the second coming as Jesus coming with the church.

Great summarization, avoids controversy (&voluminous complexity), prepares church as the Bible does.
I read the book in one day, or 2 or 3 hours in fact, VERY cogent, well-constructed, and answers MANY of the questions that come up in these debates, and others I’d not considered. Perhaps the 2 biggest takeaways; 1. We (people called by His name/church/followers/believers, should be prepared to endure tribulations/persecution for Him, as the Corrie Ten Boom letter on p. 45 beautifully conveys. and 2. Jesus returns ONCE, I’ve always read that clouds aren’t a permanent departure to Heaven, and hadn’t heard this connection to gnostic thinking, (we ALSO don’t want to ignore the “meek shall inherit the earth”). A GREAT book for those who take their exegesis seriously, and want to be certain they’re representing it best to others, since many never open a Bible. As we see things which may fit Revelation 13 forming before our eyes, we can also go to 1 John 3:8b too; ‘Jesus came to undo the works of the enemy of humanity.’It seems the earth was designed for His glory and testing to learn who can be companion for His Son, while there are unredeemable entities allowed principalities here for the time being/present age. We/the church need to be prepared to endure ‘little t’ tribulation, and big T final, global tribulation alike, which is unlikely to roll out in one fell swoop. We may be seeing the ID and financial changes occurring now, which may require/demand compliance from each individual, as Rev. 13 describes, a mark, which would be specific to one of the Club of Rome’s 10 regions, first, and then those regions will be combined to the final global beast system. The church SHOULD be prepared, willing to endure being unable to buy/sell by this system, that is the likeliest interpretation for why we are warned about it in Revelation 13, and other scripture that shows how mammon or lifestyle/financial concerns of a rich young ruler are the true god of many, even within the church. ‘Big T’ global Tribulation isn’t only things falling from the sky, but also, a new relationship/covenant established between AC/beast system and each individual, probably from inside out/DNA, while also some scannable aspect on hand/forehead as the scripture explains. Funny that this was specifically even in “Judge Brothers” Idiocracy movie with a tattoo machine…but there are biotech solutions of a quantum dot, nano-diamond ‘bandage’ which can be mailed and would ‘therapeutically improve’ DNA from God’s design which bears His signature YHWH… Stargate much? Also, I find it noteworthy that the author didn’t bother with all the complexities of Daniel 9 or the 70 Weeks…which I find terribly complex and often get faced with a particular interpretation of this passage, by pre-tribbers I love and respect, who believe THIS proves the Pre-tribulation Rapture… I like Dr. Michael Heiser’s breakdown of this passage, which, if it can be summarized in all complexity, presents a few issues that are simply not clear enough to take absolutely only one way which only supports Pre-trib. (Heiser also points out there’s no connection between 7-years and tribulation, so the extrapolation from Daniel MIGHT be correct, or not). I can appreciate that this book leaves that to its own endeavor, since it ‘cauliflowers/unfolds’ out substantially, and yet presents a clear, strong case, particularly in light of the author’s background, and the context of each passage of scripture, and Yahweh God’s general character and patterns – in the New Covenant.Without getting into the ad hominem attacks on Darby or Scofield and those who supported them, which is an interesting/noteworthy investigation of its own, due to including Samuel Untermyer who helped start the Federal Reserve and income tax… All that can be dismissed because God can use whoever He sees fit, but it is of note to me. So too Dispensationalism’s other main addition to Historic Pre-millennialism.By separating the church from Israel yet in the New Testament, the possibility to ignore/assign certain passages to certain groups exists – which can create vulnerabilities and interpretive liberties. There is no different theology for one group from another, thanks to the supernatural, massive blessing of the REPLACEMENT by the New Covenant for ALL families of the world, alluded to by the 3rd part of the Genesis 12:3 promise to Abraham, who’d met the condition of leaving his family/land. Is there an unconditional blessing for a government or religious converts who adhere to Babylonian Talmud and kabbalism/freemasonry – instead of written Torah/Pentateuch/Exodus/Deuteronomy/Tanakh…? regardless who/why/how they’re harming? Just so long as they use a Biblical label/word? …I think it was wise to omit the complex and lengthy aspects to the Old Testament contributions/portions used for Pre-trib rapture cases, and Dispensationalism itself, since the simpler can be more memorable and impactful on its own. Yet, the critical point is made about the character of God, ideological patterns and such, exceptionalism is dangerous for the vulnerabilities it can install. Jesus’ phenomenal work on the cross, on behalf of Jews, gentiles and ALL families of the world, changed, replaced the earlier covenants, and made easier access for more people. This should never be considered as hateful by ANYone, and yet, the IHRA definition bears such potential, thus is worth a warning. Probably a reason Stockholm Syndrome came from the same place, and Orwell warned about language/definitions being used to enslave humanity, stomp out free will. Teachers of pre-trib rapture should like to fully apprehend these tensions or vulnerabilities which Dispensational Zionism may be designed to enable – for such a time as this.It is important to consider to outcome/result of a system of theology, since that may be the reason it was designed by an entity. Projects/programs, even conspiracies that require generations to plan may be man-made, or not. Revelation reveals some pretty specific things, symbolically and otherwise, numbers notwithstanding. The Bible is a battlefield communication, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, designed for scalar import throughout time, by the only wholly holy Yahweh God.

Read this “parking pre-conceptions” and carefully think through what the author is presenting!
Ok, first, I am not a scholar but I AM saved by grace through faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! As such as I, late in my seventieth decade, DO strive to continue learning and reflecting all I can about my faith. And so, I HIGHLY recommend this book mainly because this author shares a view that every Christian should at least consider and pray for Godly wisdom as we do. One thing, it is clear that IN THIS WORLD (not necessarily in America) millions continue to be killed precisely because they believed in the God of the Bible…and to think less of them because they missed “the rapture” demeans their sacrifice in their own time of tribulation and persecution… In the end, consider this book a call to careful and respectful discussion, even if in the end you disagree.

Concise, Corrective, and encouraging.
I am writing a Ph.D on whether the Bible teaches a pre- or posttribulation rapture…and Dr. Eitan Bar is correct. The Bible (and Jesus) clearly teach that saints will go through the end times tribulation, being persecuted by the wrath of the devil but preserved from the wrath of God. Dr. Bar, a Israeli-born, Jewish follower of Christ, who graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary…sees Christians on earth through the tribulation [calling the posttribulation view “theologically elegant in its simplicity and consistent with the historical teachings of the Church, which for nearly 2,000 years made no mention of a secret rapture doctrine”]. On page 72, he writes, “Tribulation is a time of harvest, not abandonment…[In Scripture] we see a consistent pattern: God’s people remain on earth during judgment, but they are sheltered, empowered, and refined.” Page 70 “the Church must train for tribulation…We are called to be strong in Christ” … “Scripture presents tribulation as a refining fire, not a destructive flood…The judgments described in Revelation are not meant to annihilate, but to awaken.” On Page 71: “Even in wrath, God is pursuing repentance and redemption.”It may lack scholarly sources or drawn-out exegesis of passages, but its conciseness is Scripturally based and persuasive. My 300-page dissertation (to be published in the near future) confirms many of his conclusions and quotes (listed above). He does not (from my limited reading) seem to discuss the church/Israel distinction demanded by dispensationalists, but as a ethnically Jewish/religious Christian, Dr. Bar rightly sees all Christians of any ethnicity united in Christ, seeing messianic ethnic Jews as a part of the church being saved and gathered to Christ at a single future return (not replaced, forgotten, or left out of God’s promises). His love for Israel is evident in that he co-founded the One Voice For Israel

Eitan Bar took the scriptures that were used to establish the rapture and proved that these scriptures were not pointing to a rapture, using the context and original meaning of words. The call of God is not having an elite remnant airlifted out of earth before it burns. The call of God is to be His light and salt while we are on this earth, through trials and tribulations. We have work to do: Rebuilding the earth starts with us.I highly recommend reading three of Eitan Bar’s books together for those who are fearful about the end-times:1. Hellfire deconstructed2. Revelations3. Left behind deconstructedAfter reading these three books, my appreciation for the merciful and loving heart of God grew. And many of his evidence settled my floating questions and seeming discrepancies in the bible regarding these topics. My original intuition that God is good, kind and wanting to draw all to Himself (to preserve, protect, love and have a wonderful relationship with) is reinforced and strengthened.

A very well argued little book. Very easy to read and gets straight to the heart of the issue. Recommended.

Eitan’s book reveals the actual truth about the pre trib rapture fallacy.Even though I differ with Eitan in the area of the great tribulation (my personal eschatology is that the great tribulation occured in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem..)I would encourage you to read Eitan’s book and go seek out other authors writing on the pre trib rapture fallacy and you will set yourself and those around you free from this destructive doctrine birthed in the 1800s by John Darby CI Schofield and many others….Get the book….

Ich war schon länger derselben Meinung wie der Autor, nur fehlte mir bisher eine gute Zusammenstellung von biblischen Texten und anderen Quellen – Eitan Bar liefert diese

I had already left the Pre-tribulation doctrine very early in my walk, so this confirmed using the same scriptures. It opened my eyes to some other views of dispensationalism that I may have been caught up with. I really love Eitan’s books.
