Not overly sweet
I’m glad to have found this product.I was looking for a Nutella substitute that didn’t give me the sugary aftertaste. This one is smooth and not overly sweet. The size is small for the price however I’m happy about the quality of the product.

Better Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
Little Joys is a chocolate hazelnut spread that might be better than any you’ve tried before, and is also a little healthier. The taste of nuts in Little Joys is not overwhelmed by sugar and chocolate even though it’s sweet and chocolatey. It contains (by my estimation) about half as much added sugar as the leading brand, and Little Joys contains none of the palm oil that gives body and spreadability to the well known brand, though it does have milk solids and emulsifier. Little Joys makes natural hazelnut paste its very FIRST ingredient, and adds some peanut oil (listed in the ingredients as groundnut oil). And perhaps to give it extra nuttiness and nutrition, there are two different varieties of millet (no there’s no millet texture, they must be ground to paste). As you would expect based on the ingredients, Little Joys chocolate hazelnut spread is thinner than the larger brand’s product and actually a bit runny consistency, and it separates a little with some of the solids sinking to the bottom of the jar and needing some stirring–but it’s not at all hard to stir. I didn’t mind the thinner consistency at all, but that could get messy if your kids are spreading their own. It works best to actually hold the jar over your bread while scooping some out with a knife or spoon.Little Joys comes from India. The ingredient that makes Little Joys taste better than the leading brand despite having relatively similar ingredients is “jaggery” which refers to unrefined cane sugar, often sold in chunks, that has all its natural molasses. It’s still sugar but it’s more flavorful and has a broader range of nutrients in it than refined cane sugar.I tried a liberal amount of this on some toasted sesame Ezekiel bread for a Saturday breakfast. Please note that this is more than the Little Joys recommended serving size of 15 grams which would be about a tablespoon. It is really delicious. I would rather have this than the more famous brand any day and for certain children who like chocolate hazelnut spread would like this too. It’s a similiar taste, but better. The toasty hazelnut flavor even comes through more since in this product it’s ingredient number one.If you don’t mind the price Little Joys is simply a better product than the leading brand of chocolate hazelnut spread, and I think you’ll agree.

So yummy
I wasn’t too sure about this spread at first since millet is one of the ingredients, and I didn’t know if that meant there would be crunchy bits. Thankfully, it’s blended smoothly, so the texture is even and creamy. Instead of traditional sugar, it’s sweetened with dates, which gives it a more natural, balanced flavor.I actually prefer this to its mass-market competitor. Where that one can sometimes feel overwhelmingly sweet, this spread hits just the right level of sweetness to complement the cocoa and hazelnut. The flavor balance really works well and makes it enjoyable without being too much. The downside for me is the price. At nearly $19 for a jar, it doesn’t feel like a good value, especially when compared with other spreads on the market. While I like the taste and the thoughtful choice of ingredients, the cost would make me hesitate to buy it again.

Great Flavor, But Be Ready for a Different Texture
I was looking for a chocolate spread with a cleaner ingredient list, and this one caught my eye because it uses jaggery instead of refined sugar and no palm oil. The flavor is really the best part. You can actually taste the hazelnut and cocoa, and it’s not overpoweringly sweet like some of the other major brands. The most important thing to know is that the consistency is much thinner than what you might be used to. Because it doesn’t have palm oil, it’s quite runny and you’ll likely need to give it a good stir before using it. This isn’t a bad thing, but it’s something to be aware of, especially if you have kids making their own toast. In fact, the drizzly texture makes it great for things like topping oatmeal or ice cream.Overall, if you’re prioritizing natural ingredients and a more authentic nutty flavor over the thick, frosting-like texture of conventional spreads, this is an excellent choice. It’s a high-quality product with a delicious, less sugary taste.

Delish! Great for all ages.
I’m not a huge fan of hazelnut, but it’s tasty, has a good natural taste. It’s very nutty though, I prefer a little more chocolate flavor than hazelnut (+ the groundnut/peanut oil enhances the nuttiness). Nice and smooth and easy to spread. It’s maybe a little runny, definitely not as thick as peanut butter, but it’s fine, easy to drizzle. You could easily drizzle this over brownies or even mix into the brownie batter. The jar wasn’t too easy to open, and it seems like a sturdy jar. Well labeled and packaged. A really good quality product overall.

Goodbye Guilt, Hello Chocolate
Little Joys Chocolate Spread is very tasty and natural. This spread is made with no preservatives or palm oil. Because of this, the hazelnut spread will have a running, drippy texture that’s a little messy on toast and other pastries compared to if it had preservatives. Compared to the other hazelnut spreads I’ve tried that have preservatives, they are thicker and easier to spread, however, I like this spread more because it is slightly less sugary (no refined sugar) and finding little ways to better your food intake is worth it to me. The flavor profile is chocolatey, not overly sweet, with a thinner consistency. It is amazing on multigrain toast but this would also be great on pancakes, waffles, ice cream, fruits, milkshakes, even a glaze for meats.

Wrong description, not vegan, no dates
The product is not vegan based on the ingredients, and I don’t see dates listed anywhere on the ingredients
