Ordered this steak set as a part of Mother’s Day gift dinner for my wife, with the kids coming over to celebrate. I cooked the whole dinner myself – sides, salads, steaks for the rest of us and her favorite fish, since she’s never been much of a meat eater. But after one bite of my steak, she quietly slid her plate over and said, “Trade me?” I ended up with the fish, and she finished every bit of my steak. Ha-ha… We’ve been married a long time, but moments like that still make me smile.

my gift to my husband
ordered the strip steaks and filet migons for my husband’s birthday. He’s a big grill guy and I figured this would be something he’d actually enjoy. He grilled everything that night and even though I’m not a big meat eater I really liked the migons. Super tender and not heavy at all. He loved the whole set and already told me he wants the exact same thing for Christmas… and next year’s birthday too. Honestly, it’s the easiest gift in the world since I don’t need to guess the sizes or returning shirts he doesn’t like or can’t fit into.

I think I found me a new butcher…
I don’t how grumpy this butcher is, but I was as happy as can be when I cut into the first ribeye! The fillet mignon was no let down either. Expensive? Yep, I won’t be eating them nearly as often as I like but when I do, I will be pounding on the old Grumps door. I’m a ribeye guy when I want a good steak. My wife, who rarely eats beef was absolutely thrilled with her fillet. Thank you Grumpy, You’ll be seeing my name again as often as possible.

From one butcher to another
Alright, bud. Here’s a review from one butcher to another. I don’t usually order steaks online since I run my own butcher shop here in New York and can get any kind of meat. But I was flying to see a old buddy and didn’t want to risk checking my own meat with two connecting flights. I’ll skip the basics like trim, gristle, connective tissue, and the right amount of marbling for each cut. If your steaks had any issues like this, I’d have given you one star and wouldn’t bother with this review. So, I got filet mignons New York strips and ribeye steaks. Here’s the rundown. NY strip steaks are A-. Very good overall, black angus, aged about 3 weeks. Didn’t like that they were packed 4 in a pack. Not a big deal, but not ideal. Filet mignons gets A from me. Prime beef, perfect shape center cut from beef tendeloin, good size, even for a Texan. Aged at least 2-3 weeks, right? Ribeyes were REALLY good and deserve an A+. Superb black angus, medium to bold flavor, perfect for grilling.Good work, man. I’ll probably order your sous vide wagyu ribs. We don’t have them.
