  1. Just ask Babs

    Great concept, very clean formulation
I am always on the hunt for new cleansers, so when I saw this Satin & Silk Micro-Exfoliant Powder by Miss Universe I got super curious and ordered it.The first thing that struck me is the strange brand name, but now that I have read through the listing, it is making more sense. The product page kept referring to the MU7C + Complex, which I now understand means Miss Universe 7 Continents, and that is referencing that this product contains at least one botanical from each of the seven continents. As far as “drone technology” delivering the ingredients for “glowing results”, I had to look that one up. So, for active ingredients that need to go below the surface of the skin, they encapsulate them. Encapsulating an ingredient ensures that it will make it down to the layer of skin that it’s intended for, and be at full potency when it reaches its destination layer of skin cells.Regardless, this is kind of a fun product to use. It’s a very fine powder, add water and massage it around the face in circular motions. Then simply rinse and enjoy the smoother texture of the skin. There is no foaming action to speak of, but this cleanser does a good job of cleaning in spite of that. The first time I used it I was wearing foundation and it removed every bit of it, no problem. It did leave my skin feeling a tad dry, but that matters not because I always moisturize after cleansing. There is added fragrance to this powder, not too heady but it is definitely floral. This powder is serious about exfoliating and has lots of ingredients to back that up. It contains micro crystalline cellulose, bamboo extract, rice bran extract, papaya extract, cornstarch and tapioca starch. The first four ingredients are more aggressive in exfoliating but the cornstarch and tapioca actually work to soothe and give a slight polishing effect, so they actually “gentle down” the other exfoliants a bit.In addition to that, this formulation also contains algae as a humectant and jojoba esters for their emollient properties. Add to that, there are several other botanicals that will help to brighten, soothe and reinforce/repair the moisture barrier layer. As if that weren’t enough, there are also plenty of peptides in this product for anti-aging benefits and collagen support. What this formulation does Not have, are any ingredients that could be potentially harmful – no parabens, phthalates, PEGs, sulfates, silicones or any other harsh chemicals. Since I have dry skin, I will likely only get away with using this powder once or twice weekly, but that is enough to reap the rewards of a smoother complexion.Currently this micro exfoliant powder is selling at $45. It is loaded with helpful botanicals and nothing harmful, plus it works really well and only takes a little to clean my face, so it will last. Having said all that, I think the price is offering a reasonably good value.Highly recommendedMade in the USA

    Refined Boraxo
When I was a kid, my dad always had Boraxo brand hand soap on hand to scrub away grease and grime from particularly dirty jobs. In the 1980s/1990s, I kept my skin looking smooth and flawless using gritty manual exfoliant products (like Clinique Seven Day Scrub, Avon’s Clearskin Cleansing Scrub and, of course, St. Ive’s Apricot Facial Scrub). I am a true believer in the power of good old fashioned scrub. Of course, now all the manual exfoliants have been de-fanged and the gritty granules have been replaced by ineffective “cleansing beads” that roll around without lifting any dead skin at all.All that said, I was thrilled to find this micro-exfoliant powder. Right out of the bottle, it looks like a fine-grained cleansing powder, but it works very much like a more refined version of my dad’s beloved Boraxo. The trick is to control the amount of water you add. If you’re looking for a heavy duty scrub, rub the dry powder directly onto very slightly damp skin. If you want something a bit less abrasive, add water to the product in your palm and mix into a clay-like paste. It makes a very thick lather, but rinses relatively easily. The mild scent (which is artificial fragrance) is a bit perfume-y, but doesn’t linger.I love this stuff and my face feels so clean, smooth and fresh after I use it.

Just ok – full ingredient list needs to be on ad page
That saying “information is power” – to give us the information of the full list of ingredients.I have another similar dry rice extract powder that I prefer so much better that is made in Korea.I like that other one better as it does not have lactic acid or glycolic acid in in.Because of the lactic acid, I choose NOT to use it daily. I don’t have oily skin and don’t truly wish to exfoliate daily.I only deep clean/exfoliate my skin weekly. and try to have on hand more cream cleansers that are gentle and moisturize my skin. this would not be my preferred “exfoliant”.There is plenty of opportunity for the full list of ingredients to have been provided on the ad page: either photo of the side of the box, or in the detailed product information area to list in order of ingredients.the ad does list SOME ingredients, but to me, the key is looking at the ingredients in the order of quantity as stated on the product itself. this information should be there for a buyer to review. In a store, I can pick up and examine a bottle and compare to another optionI want that same opportunity when shopping online. As for the proprietary “magic” ingredient, again, not impressed without understanding how this product is better than another with specific reasons why.

    Excellent exfoliating product.
This exfoliating cleanser does a great job. It lathers easily and applies to the face without difficultly. My skin definitely feels clean after using this. I used it morning and night prior to applying my standard moisturizer. I also had my husband try it and neither of us had any negative effects like skin irritation. Given the size of the bottle I feel like the value is appropriate. This is definitely a product I would order again.
