Sweet and salty with a hint of heat
I went to culinary school and love to cook for my family. We also live in California so I grill quite often. My husbands favorite is a Ribeye steak seasoned perfectly. When I cam across the ButcherBox Rancher’s Steak Seasoning I decided to give it a try. I like to pat the steak dry and rub it with a little olive oil before applying the seasoning. I then liberally applied the seasoning to help form a seasoned crust. I seared the steaks on both sides and then turned down the heat to let it cook. After resting we tasted the steaks and the flavor was great. It is salty, sweet with a hint of spice. You can easily tasted the garlic which is my favorite. This seasoning is great on steak but I also imagine it would be good on chicken. Overall I really like this sweet, salty and spicy seasoning.

Excellent Steak Seasoning, Comes Complete with The Essentials and Then Some More
As a purist, steak itself only really needs the classic SPG, salt pepper and garlic. However, Butcherbox’s Steak Seasoning does a great job of convincing me that there could be a greater world of flavor to explore.You get a small but generous shaker bottle containing about five ounces of the seasoning. The seasoning itself contains all the hallmarks of SPG but chooses to augment it by adding other elements like sugar and dried onion powder. Other spices are included as well, which altogether makes for a savory but well-balanced flavor. Immediately, you get the great salty flavors but it is instantly enhanced by the assortment of spices that add additional smoky, peppery, and mildly warm flavors. Especially worth mentioning is how the inclusion of sugar makes the entire rub taste just more balanced by adding an element that helps round out the flavors more into something pleasant.Overall, you get a great rub that goes toe to toe with a traditional SPG seasoning by enhancing the already-great SPG. Definitely recommended, especially if you like eating a good steak.

Good mix of salty, sweet, and savory, but could use more pepper.
Good mix of sweet and savory seasoning. Just the right amount of salt and other seasonings which are great for meats, but it could use a bit more pepper. We’ve used this on chicken and pork primarily because I prefer a more traditional SPG for my steaks. This has a good bit of flavor but you just need to find the right meats to use it on.

Delicious
Great blend of steak seasoning. Tastes just like you’d expect. It doesn’t clump up like other seasonings do and it’s easy to dispense. It’s really takes the steak up a notch. It’s also great in mashed potatoes or on chicken.

Good Kick of Heat
The seasoning arrived fresh, well-sealed and well within its best-by date. There’s a generous amount in the shaker that goes well with a range of dishes. Although marketed to go with steak, I tried this first on chicken and liked it a lot. There’s a prominent bit of heat with each bite (I’m a wimp when ti comes to anything too spicy) so be warned there.
