Out with the old, in with the new!
I’ve had the same tired wooden spice rack for the last couple of decades (with some pretty tired spices), and I was online looking for other solutions, ultimately to free up space on my kitchen counter as well as improving the aesthetics. I saw the 24-small-jar spice set with magnetic lids and ordered it. I had seen other magnetic spice solutions, but the hexagonal jars were more visually interesting. The set just arrived a couple of days ago, and I now have the jars on my fridge, which leaves me a cleaner counter. At a count of 24, the set contains most of the spices I would normally use plus a few more to experiment with. The magnets in the jar lids are very powerful and stay firmly in place when the refrigerator door is swinging. Plus the appealing geometric shapes can be arranged in many playful ways.Just yesterday, I had the crock pot going with a favorite white chili recipe, and I realized the new spice set did not include cilantro. I’m one of those people whose taste buds don’t prefer cilantro, especially in salsas, but the chili didn’t quite taste the same without cilantro blended with the other spices. I decided to explore Gneiss Spice’s website, as you can pick and choose the spices you want for each jar you buy (in a set or individually). You can also buy refills shipped in bags so you don’t have another empty spice jar to throw away.To be perfectly honest, reactions from friends are usually regarding how expensive the sets seem to be. But when you look at the cost of spices these days, it doesn’t take long to realize you’re buying organic herbs and spices, plus a reusable jar with a magnetic lid that is stamped with the name of the spice, has convenient peel-and-stick labels to identify the spice on the bottom of the jar, and is visually appealing, all for less than $5.50 each (for the small size jar). Refills are even less expensive.I feel I have invested in a beautifully-realized concept that adds interest to my kitchen, is amazingly functional, and offers quality spices at a reasonable price. Plus I’m supporting a small business here in the US. It’s a win-win!

The best space saving spice kit you can get.
Wow, I’ve got to say that these are amazing. I’ve been using these for two weeks so far, and have cooked about ten meals with them.I bought these because I was looking for a spice kit that didn’t take up any cabinet or counter space because I have a small kitchen in my new apartment. I stuck these to the side of my refrigerator (it isn’t stainless steel), and they look awesome, they take up no space and are extremely easy to use. I’ve cooked with most of the spices now, and they all are of good quality. I really have been beyond happy with these, they look great and are easy to use. Also, if you’re wondering, the spices also already come inside of the glass jars, so you don’t have to take the time to fill them all up. The jars are all filled to the top, so you get quite alot of spice. I got the small jar version. As some people have mentioned, the names of the spices are on the magnetic side, so you can’t see them. They do include a set of spice name stickers to put on the back, but I like the way the glass bottoms look so much, I elected to buy some clear spice labels for them instead, which I would highly recommend others get as well. Also, I was worried because shipping said it would take 3 weeks to arrive, but it still arrived within a week.

Fresh Spices, Beautiful Display, Safe Packaging
My sweetheart and I are really enjoying using these in my kitchen. I gave them to her as a gift to play with since we’re always cooking gourmet foods for each other and my kitchen is small for what we pull off; these things added some style in addition to offering a nice array of common spices.Instead of nesting the hexagonal jars as seen in the photos, she decided to break them up into clusters of threes and fives based on common flavor combinations. This not only looks really nice facing the stove off the side of my refrigerator, it also helps when reaching for a spice jar because the poles of the magnets can make them tricky to stick back where you pulled them from; sometimes you’ll draw another jar closer or repel two or more away when you go to return the spices to their homes. The other nice features in arranging them in this manner is that you can easily grasp the jars when they’re in small clusters to flip them over if you’ve forgotten which is which, though grouping by usage also helps the noggin in that dept.I’m completely satisfied with these things, and I’m considering getting more jars to add some of the more exotic spices that we use to pair with the original set.

Label Yourself
Product is beautiful and shipped well before I expected. Unfortunately I have to label the spices myself. I don’t know if I just missed this in other reviews or what my issue was. It’s frustrating because while the stickers are great, I’m only moderately confident and even when confident, the stickers not being straight or in the exact same places on the jars bothers me (even though or especially because I’m the on that did it).

You got a fridge? Then you got a spice rack!
Love it!!! Great choice of spices! Although it’s pricey these are all the spices you should ever need, unless you’re trying to cook up some recipe from some major chef that you’ll probably mess up anyway. The containers are great, they are the perfect size and the magnets give the perfect amount of stick. They look great on the side of our fridge and it seems much easier to find what you’re looking for as compared to rummaging through a cabinet.

Chef’s dream!!
I have a pull-down spice cabinet and these spice jars are the perfect solution. What I love is that the jars are re-usable, and you can re-order the refills in small quantities for a very reasonable price. Since spices expire within 6 months to a year, these small quantities are a great solution. They have so many spices to choose from – and you can pretty much have them all in a very small space!
