“Abigail’s Song” opened my soul — Tomlin and Fatima create magic in this beautiful collaboration.
Abigail’s Song” captivated me and touched my spirit. This is more than just a children’s book — it’s a heartfelt reminder that communication reaches far beyond spoken words. Reading it stirred something deep within me. As a grandmother to a bright and verbally expressive 9-year-old grandson, it opened my heart to a new lens through which to see communication, especially how children, whether verbal or nonverbal, process the world around them and choose to express what they feel. This beautiful book gently taught me how to better understand nonverbal communication. It reminded me how vital it is to truly listen — not just to words, but to emotions, gestures, and spirit. Abigail’s journey inspired me to look deeper and connect more meaningfully, especially with our autism community, and with how my grandson experiences the world.Abigail’s strength, courage, and quiet tenacity were portrayed with such grace. The writing is simple, yet every word carries weight. And the illustrations? Absolutely stunning. Every page bursts with color and emotion, pulling me in visually just as much as the story itself. The artwork brings Abigail’s world to life in a vibrant, joyful way. This book is not only a tool for understanding nonverbal children on the autism spectrum — it’s a universal story about love, acceptance, and connection.Congratulations, Thamani Tomlin and Ayesha Fatima. You’ve created something incredibly inspiring, deeply meaningful, and truly special. “Abigail’s Song” sings to the soul. Mercedes C. Bass

    Amazing Read!
I ordered Abigails Song because I have a step daughter who is nonverbally autistic and this book really spoke to me. It is very beautifully written and illustrated. I have continually been troubled by the way that autism is often misunderstood and the thoughts of nonverbal children are disregarded. I feel that this really illustrates the way that autistic people communicate and loved the idea of how much you can see through her eyes. I think it is important to note the individual feelings and thoughts that autistic children have especially when other people are making decisions for them. The author did a wonderful job expressing how just because Abigail has autism does not and should not make them invisible. Overall, this book is a beautiful and truthful insight into the world of being a caretaker of an autistic child.
